I attached a rail under the barrel of my Ruger MK II 22/45 for a Streamlight TLR-2 laser/light.
I do a good bit of low light practice and thought this setup would be an interesting and inexpensive setup.
It's exceeded my expectations.

I constantly get requests asking how I did the modification.

All it is, is a Weaver scope base mounted using two drilled and tapped holes in the barrel.
The hardest thing was finding a base that closely matched the barrel's diameter. I found one in a box of Weaver mounts, don't remember the number.

Recently I bought a new Ruger MK III 22/45. A rail came with the gun. The rail closely matches the barrel diameter and with just a little gun-smithing could be mounted under the barrel.

So if any of you amateur or pro gunsmiths want to use the idea feel free to do so.
Considering the inquiries I get a few bucks could be made by offering this service.

Now that right there is a pretty darn neat addition!

Nice work!

I made a light mount out of a weaver base for my AR carbine bayonet lug last year.
Little 1/8" steel plate to fit the lug, and a Weaver base screwed to that.
