Try a solid 1/4" aluminum or mild steel rod and bash it out from the chamber end. Neither are as hard as the barrel so it shouldn't bother the barrel.

Actually, aluminum rods are not aluminum on the surface. If you scratch a piece of aluminum it is shiny, then rapidly turns dull as it oxidizes into AL2O3 (aka sapphire or ruby, Mohs hardness over 8). I think an aluminum rod would scratch steel (I know aluminum cans will scratch safety glass, hardness 6.5).
Someone correct me on this if there is something special about aluminum cleaning rods.

Solid brass rod & a big mallet. But if you're going from chamber end, forget the muzzle protector.

Glad that it worked out for you.
Try that exercise sometime with a patch and jag stuck in a muzzleloader barrel!
I used a grease gun to hydraulically force it out, threaded into the touch hole liner in a fitting my Grandfather cut for me.

Mike I will only use sabots in my muzzleloader.

Nifty idea your grandfather has Mike. I'd yank off the breechplug myself. Of course, I'm smart enough to make a mark (on the bottomside where it won't be seen if there's not one already there) to ensure alignment. It's not a bad idea to yank them off anyway to inspect the condition of the breechplug. :uhoh: Recently, the NMLRA MuzzleBlasts magazine had a few articles on breechplug wear.

"Mike I will only use sabots in my muzzleloader."
And that's applicable to getting a patch and jag stuck in the bore.... How?
Well, I was actually the one with the idea for getting it out hydraulically, but I went to my Grandfather to help craft the adapter that I needed.
It took a LOT of grease, as the patch was about halfway up the bore of a .50 Hawken. :)

Its not applicable,I just have no desire to stick a patch and ball in my muzzleloader.

Wrong kind of patch, Mastinson.
A CLEANING patch, on a CLEANING jag.
Not a patched round ball.
Although I do shoot those out of my flintlock.
