What ever happened to the belt fed .22lr & .22mag subguns that were in the buzz during the 80's? I remember they had a phenomenal rate of fire and they looked like a ray gun from the old Buck Rogers movies W/ cooling fins nearly the entire lenth of the gun. They also had a pistol grip both in front and back. I remember some of my friends that were policemen talking about them boring holes clear through cars and the like. I want one when I win the lotto.;) :p :D

You are thinking about the AR 180, had a 320 round top drum magazine. Was awesome when it fed right..

The Tippman .22 went out of production. Even the Semi-automatic one was worth a small fortune.

Some AR 180s are still available, but they are pricy.

The Tippmanns are back in production. Lakeside Machine from Pound, WI is making post sample full autos and semis in a variety of configurations.
Some are available in .17 HMR. Neat guns!

Nope, no drums in my personal memory bank. The ones I'm talking about were definitely belt fed! They claim that the noise was like a buzz saw, one continuous sound. Sure could pile up the brass with that, and all of it useless!!! I'll bet it would take all winter to load the belts for just a day shooting in the spring.:what: :what:

kentucky - I know the gun you're thinking of - saw it in a gun digest type of book at Barnes & Nobles. About 16-18 inches long and 4 or 5 in diameter, right? The photo I saw showed guy with something like 10,000 rounds of belted ammo draped across his shoulders. :) Don't know how many were made or how many are still around, though...

How much do the belts cost and do they fall under the "hi cap" BS?

Why does the picture of the .22 M2 make me giggle?
Damn '86 ban, please go away, I want a belt fed .22mag for killing massed hordes of gophers that try to do gopher-wave assaults on my garden.

SD,
It's too cool but at 4K.... OUCH! And that's a Kali legal SEMI. I guess if you have the money and a matching fullsize M2 (he does) to go with it, what the heck right?

Here's another for ya.
