FAC used to sell them. http://www.facsupplystore.com/index.asp
They no longer seem to have any. I've got one, though. The rifling is little more than scratches. It's legally rifling, but the lands are about 3 times as wide as the grooves, and they're really shallow. I guess I could sell you mine for just the cost of shipping, if you can't find anyplace else and you really want one. But it's a little rusty.

thanks ryan, i been looking for it and no luck.
i dont even have the derringer. just thought it would be cool to shoot .22short single shot.
have you tried shooting .22 out of your derringer?

Howdy yongxingfreesty,
Ryan has the insert and I have the derringer. You can have the set up you want real cheap.
I have one that I got in a package deal. It is just getting pushed around while I try to sell everything else. I just went and dug it out to see if the nipple would come out and it did. It is rusty but came right out with no problems.
I know shipping on it wouldn't be over $15.00, so if you will give me $15.00 for it, I will ship it to you.
It is not new, looks like it has been shot a couple of times and not cleaned right. The hammer, trigger, and half cock all work fine.
It is a CVA made by ASM
Would you like to have it?

Yeah, I don't have the derringer, so I couldn't tell you how/if it works. I originally bought a couple sleeves to see if I could make something like a tiny .22 airgun derringer, but accuracy was horrible because only about 1" of the barrel is rifled, the rest is chamber and freebore.

Sorry to resurect this old thead guys, but I was hoping you could help me find one of these derringers. I'm not sure who made them, or what they are called exactly.
I've got the .22 sleave (thanks RyanM) I checked the chamber length and its actually a .22 long chamber not a .22 short.
but I have had no luck in running down a derringer to stick this in.
Any places I should look?
Thanks

Heck, I'd be happy with a complete set of dimensioned drawings. I could probably turn a liner on a lathe. I have a derringer that I built from a CVA kit, and a chunk of barrel from an old cheap single-shot .22 rifle...

let me know who this thing shoots, of course accuracy will be nill to zip, but i am curious about the shallow rifiling causing the bullets to "key hole" low velocity .22 shorts probably woundnt give problems, but high velocity .22 rounds might.
i admit i thought about buying one of these guns out of a catalod once too. just never had the time.
you know from what i understand a non licensed person can make a black powder weapon without any permit or paperwork, and apparently its legal to convert these black powder derringers to use metallic cartridges.
also i understand its legal to convert a BP to metallic rounds as long as its for personal use, and it wont be sold
have i found a luopole in the system?

That is correct. Under federal law, anyone can manufacture a firearm (bp or cartridge) without taxes or license for their own personal use. However, they cannot sell that firearm (bp or cartridge) without a tax license, and in the case of a cartridge firearm, the transfer must be through a licensee. The regulations are available on line at the BATF web site.
This is the reason it is legal to purchase a black powder revolver, and then separately a cartridge conversion cylinder, and combine the two to create a cartridge firing revolver without going through an FFL. However, if you ever sell the gun, the gun and the conversion cylinder must be sold separately. They cannot even be shipped in the same container.

" anyone " in this case means any person who is not prohibited from possessing a cartridge firearm under US18 922 (g).

I suspect it's been discontinued ( I bought mine around 1991 or so). It was called the "vest pocket derringer".

Not exactly. It is legal to sell a gun that you manufactured, so long as it was originally manufactured for personal use. It also has to be serial numbered, by you.
Selling the gun and cylinder seperately just avoids the potential legal hassles, and having to engrave a serial number.

And you have to have a excise tax license.

Check with Kirst about selling a blackpowder revolver after you have installed one of their conversion kits with the loading gate. In order to install the loading gate, you must alter the frame. Once the frame has been altered, it is considered a firearm if you try to sell it. No matter which cyllinder is in it.
Be careful, very careful, it could cost you more than money.

yongxingfreesty, Try Traditions Performance Firearms. Is .31cal with faux ivory grips. Price is $158.00. DGW had them a couple of years ago, but not now. They don't even have any parts. Needed a main spring and found it at Traditions. The old one broke after only 25 years. Imagine that. I'm fitting the new one now but seem to have a ways to go. The barrel sleeve is 22 long rifle. It'll handle stingers, but you have to push the empties out by hand from the muzzel. Std Vel. 22 LR don't present this prob. Accuracy? Don't know. I carry it with snake shot when I'm in the woods. I also carry my 1860 Army loaded with round ball, but prefer shot for snakes. Overall, the deringer is a nice little piece, but I gotta admit I miss loading it the old way. Have fun!
