I have a friend who would like to sell a Hi-Standard Sentinel .22lr, satin finish, 2" barrel. He has no idea of it's value, and neither do I, and was wondering if some THR afficionados might be able to give him an better idea than I can.

I know the gun itself is not that valuable, ($150-$200 range maybe) but it has a presentation box and was apparently initially bought by Fred Bear of Bear archery. It has one of those "safety inspections certificates" that certain states like to give out. Pix are below, Would anyone have any idea?

I have no idea of value, though I would think that the Fred Bear documentation might add something to the price. Very nice little .22; like taking a trip in a time machine.

I had the blued model with wood grips and a collector gave me $200 for it 15 years ago, my gun was at best a 90 point gun. That's a real beauty, worth considerably more due to it's condition and the rarity of the snubby model,and the grips.

I would hazard a guess that it will be bought at somewhere around $300.00. I would put it on Gunbroker with a starting bid of $200.00 and charge enough for what his FFL handling fee & shipping will be and see where it goes from there. He migh get lucky and find a collector rather than a shooter that will run the price up.

The longer barreded models sell in the $150-$200 range. The 2" models are $225 or so and up. The colored frame (gold anodized also in pink and powder blue, IIRC) are higher still, and I have never seen one with that type of case or the Frea Bear connection.
Probably retail at around $300.

People are finally starting to collect these great old revolvers.

They originally sold for about $15 less than a similar S&W.

I have one in blued finish. The trigger pull is so hard (12lbs?) and it is so inaccurate (four inches right and eight inches high at 15ft) that it is a nuisance to use. I have the cylinder for 22 mag also. If someone offered me $150 for it I would take it and use the money for ammo.
