Sorry if this is a repost, but the search function is acting up on me.

I have an Rem 870 express with a 30" barrel. I want to find if anyone knows of a website where I can be a replacement 18 or 20" barrel that I can put on it for home defense.

Any suggestions?

Midway USA is Excellent. They give refunds on items that are unused or defective. One of the best refund policies out there.

I have the barrel from Midway listed above in MAX100's post and am very satisfied. And the barrel's phosphate finish closely matches the Remington Express finish.

I have to ask, why are shotgun barrels so expensive? that one for 99 is the cheapest I've seen. I see an awful lot of barrels for the 870 for well over 100 dollars. what gives? I could almost buy another gun for the price of some of these barrels.

reason I ask, I have a 28 inch barrel on my 870 and I'd like a 20 or 22, but I'm not about to put up that kind of money. I'd rather save a bit more and get another gun.

I can buy a rem 870 around here for $230...take a hack saw to the bbl and put on a cheap pistol grip...I now have a $300-$350 gun. Its CRAZY I say....CRAZY!!!

The more expensive barrels have a vent rib and are threaded for interchangeable chokes. That adds to the cost of manufacture. A non-ribbed unthreaded cylinder-bore barrel is a lot cheaper to make.

If you want an inexpensive barrel for your 870 but you don't want to sacrifice quality buy a Mossberg barrel made for the Remington 870. Look near the bottom of the Mossberg Barrel Page (http://www.mossberg.com/products/access.asp?type=barrels&section=access) for the part # of the Remington Security barrel then look online for a better price. The Mossberg made barrel will cost you almost half of what a Remington made barrel will cost you.

Does any one know if the Mossberg barrels made for the 870 use the newer Express method for attaching the barrel and mag spring or the Wingmaster method?
