That number was made after 1985, which is where the publicly available Colt serial number archives end.

To get a production date, just call Colt during normal business hours, and they will give you the date over the phone.
They will NOT answer any other questions about the gun over the phone.
For that, you have to pay.

Oooh, buy a python and you'll never need another revolver again. What a trigger pull. My uncle, a cop, has one sitting in his closet almost NIB so I told him he should get it approved for his service carry instead of his Sigma. He has a Glock now, so I guess it'll be in the closet for a long time.

Python Elites were Pythons made in the Colt custom shop toward the end of the Python's life. Their quality is markedly inferior, on the whole, to that of Pythons made in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, although individual Python Elites may be excellent.

The Python in its last 15 years serves as a classic example of the fallacy of trying to grow a business by cutting costs.
