OK, I don't know how many people have ever been to Fark.com, but it is the single greatest website to get news from around the world, and then argue about it with other morons on the internet.

Here is a recent sampling to keep it on topic here:

The article:
http://www.theadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071128/NEWS01/71128026/1002

The comments:
http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/comments.pl?IDLink=3233622

I just figured I would share my joy with people I like. It's a great place to find antis to argue with :)

I visit Fark a lot. Some of the headlines are really funny, but overall I think it's a good "news" site. There are a bunch of ignorant idiots that post in the comments, but there are a lot of level-headed comments as well. Kind of like real life... :o

I also visit, but the posting is better suited for APS.

The gun threads on fark are hilarious.

Many times people will just troll them to rile up the gun owners.
or they end up being gun porn threads.

It is kind of hit or miss.

Also it depends on the time of day very early morning usually means the crowd is mostly European and they are staunch anti-gunners complaining about us Yanks and our guns.

Later in the day and you get mostly mid-west gun owners and then later at night you get Californians which are both anti-gun and pro-gun.

Great cross section to debate with.

not all eurpeans are anti gun!...altough after us vikings cooled down i think most of europe in general just stopped thinking they needed to defend themselves...thats what happens when vikings decide to take a break...everything goes to hell.

PS: am checking out ze site.

I have been meaning to ask is APS affiliated with THR? Alot of people here recomend it for off topic stuff, and alot of people hare are members, but the layout is completely different, and it just doesn't have the same "vibe". Is there a reason, there isn't just an "off-topic" section on this board. There are alot of topics I would like to bring up with like minded people, but aren't necesarily about guns. I suppose APS is probably the best alternative.

However, this particular article is rather interesting and I think, on topic, because of the specific subject matter. The interesting part is more the comments on Fark itself over the article. It's always interesting to see people from different view points discussing these things, as opposed to here where it's just "preachin' to the choir".

I never really thought about how the europeans are most likely commenting first, and how the "socio-political" climate changes in the comments over time. That is a really astute point :)

I don't got to APS or TFL. Thank you Keeleon for posting the information about FARKS here. :)

I love Fark, I touch on it at least once a day. Be careful, though, it's very easy to get caught up in it. 60-70 headlines, all the comments, photoshop contests, farktography contests...the list goes on. I love it. I had to find something to get me off of Fark so often. Hence, THR :)

If it's not news, it's Fark.
