I just bought an Officer's model with a spur hammer ,not the rowell commander type. The gun is a parkerized light weight like new. Were any Colt officer's models shipped with "spur" hammers? My early "commencement model" does'nt have one. Sure looks factory on a NIB gun!:)

Mystery solved! the LW Officer's model I bought from an estate sale has a OWNER INSTALLED spur hammer as the old boy got weak and couldn't cock the spur well. Yes I will change it.

I've been buying guns well before Colt came out with the Officers model. I've never seen a factory, or Lew Horton, or special run Officers with a spur hammer. I've had several Officers. That does not mean that they were never made w / spur hammer, as Colt like to make "special runs." A couple years ago I bought a used Officers with a spur hammer. It was a matte black non-enhanced series 80. The grip safety was sort of a smaller / shorter tang 1911 style. The hammer was bobbed (looked like factory parts). Could have been Detonics parts. Barrel / slide was magna ported. When you pulled the hammer back as far as to contact grip safety it "hung" there. As if fulcrum point for hammer was "not right". So after all this blah, blah, worthless info, what I did was put Commander hammer and appropriate grip safety in it, and I sold it.

Gordon: You posted your answer whilst I was composing mine. Unfair I say.....Honor demands satisfaction. Your mouse is obviously faster than mine....
