i have a bsa catseye on my marlin .30-30

its cheap i got it for 80 bucks but it is an awsome scope for the money i would easily buy the same scope for 150-200

the scope is a 1.5-4.5x32

it gives a good bit of light but i am 17 and and still have decent eyes....even with my glasses off lol

Top ejects need a side mount or a forward mounted scope. Unless you are partial to the gun sell it and buy a Marlin 30-30.

Or better yet keep it and buy the Marlin. Your gun should be drilled for a receiver sight. Have you thought of that? It will add 10"s or so to the sight radius.

I have had 2 94s with side mounted scopes and did not like the set up.

As long as it is a later one with "angle eject" you will be fine.
Is there a threaded whole in the side of the hammer?
A little nurrled rod goes there so you can still cock the hammer
with a scope on it. Mine has a 4X Weaver on it good 150 yard
scope.

I second the Leupold Rifleman, but you might find a Nikon Buckmasters in your price range now that it's Christmas time.

I've been patient for several years when I see posts of this type, but I have to say that those who would put a scope on a Model 94 would also draw a mustache on the Mona Lisa. :what:

I agree - just get a bolt gun if you need a scope. Or, you may also consider the scout mounts with a long eye relief scope - Burris scout scope or variable power pistol scope.

Otherwise, you are looking at the side mount which is off-center to the left to avoid the ejecting round - rather half-arsed approach if you ask me.

But really, by the time you're through messing around trying to scope your 94, you'd almost spend as much as buying a used bolt gun.

Further, you mention "300 yards" - that's a good 100+ yards beyond your 30-30's capabilities, so going to a Marlin doesn't make sense to me.

My local shop has used scoped bolt guns in standard calibers (like .270 Win) for very reasonable prices.

First... I'm with "Ratshooter"... spend the money on a Marlin 336 and put a scope on it - a 2x-7x or a straight 4x with the brightest objective you can find. The Win. 94 is such a sweet gun to carry it is a crime to scope it thereby messing up your ability to carry it at the balance point. :barf: $1000 fine.

Second... O.S.O.K. is right. Forget 300 yds with the 30/30. If that 300 yds, is really that important - skip the Marlin and get a bolt-action .243 and a bright scope.

read some chuck hawks, you will be schooled in about 1 hour. Bushnell 3200 is a sweet deal out there for the money.

It would be a travesty to scope that rifle. Use the money to buy a Marlin, which is better suited to scope mounting, then proceed with your 300 yard .30-30 ambitions.

Hello Emmie,
FWIW top ejects can be scoped, however unless done so properly quick follow up shots can be problematic due to ejection issues. My scoped model94AE Trapper with 16 inch barrel in 45Colt has a Bushnell 2-7 wide angle non adjustable objective short scope riding atop it and is the perfect medicine for any sized FL feral hog FL Whitetail or Bobcat Otter or even on Gator(if allowed). I would feel perfectly secure using it on our Black bear, if we had a enough(which we don't BTW) to sustain the species while allowing a hunting season(which we don't BTW). Give me a day or so Emmie and I will look to see what the exact model # of the scope and rings are and email it to you. Take care and happy shooting
D

P.S. I've been polite more so than patient since I was legitimately able to call myself a man. However I learned very long ago that different people have different taste and that is one of the many great things about the grand ole USA. Additionally different people may have different needs (And I stress needs and #1. really like that combination for whatever reason or #2. only have what they have options wise and they need a scope.

I feel that people who find a need to criticize others and or make useless analogies instead of helping others realize their personal choices and decisions don't really appreciate the true significance of the Mona Lisa. And if I owned the Mona Lisa I couldd draw anything I wanted on her:eek:. What was the reason for the Mona Lisa smile you ask, she was packing a scoped Winchester model 94 AE:what:. Hey I read it on the Internet, it could be true.

10mmGary, I know that you are not directing your reply to me, but I must say that you've created an issue that doesn't exist and then admonished those who supposedly created it. Weird.

OSOK huh lets see, This is the Internet and I used what are basically electronic cartoon characters(smilies /emoticons) in my post and you say I created a issue where there were none. What you see as an issue I meant as an absurdity. Was it the "legitimately able to call myself a man" part or the Mona Lisa packing part or the Me owning her and writing on her part that is an issue in your opinion? BTW I was only joking I could never afford the Mona Lisa and if I were so lucky to be able to I wouldn't write on her, I would trade her off for guns and ammo though:D.

I am serious that I find it annoying when someone ask how to do something or about a particular item and instead of others sharing their experience if they have some, see fit to post nothing of use(now that's weird) to the OP as far as solutions go.

I wanted a scope on my top eject 94 too. But after thinking about it for a while I just couldn't do it. It's just so light and fast the way it is. I thought a scope would add too much weight and throw the balance off. I put a Williams peep sight on it, for the benefit of these old eyes, and bought a scoped Marlin 336 for when I need one.

My dad gave me a 94 for my first deer gun in 1957-I still take it out every so often to hunt; The rifle was made for heavy brush and shots under 100 yards; don't scope it; If you are taking 300 yard shots then go for a flater shooting round (7-08; 270 etc). Scoping it would be like painting the USS constitution pink-the rifle is a classic.

A scope.... on a Win 94 top eject.....
I'm sorry, I don't understand the general framework of the question. ;)

Sorry about that-- It's your rifle and you should do with it exactly as you wish. A Leupold fixed power scope of around 3x or 4x would IMO, be a good choice, but on a top eject you might have other issues.
