Hey There and Welcome.
Here is the real question . How much? $$$$
They are just like girls. They come in all size's shapes and price's
Mine is an Encore .50 cal. (Rifle) A real hole ragger. Not cheap !
Tell us more...
I never lean toward the lower priced stuff, but that does not mean they wont work.

I'm old school and like a traditional flinter or caplock. I see know use for inline except to use a 'modern' rifle during BP season - sort of cheating IMO.
I'd vote for a cap lock for a new shooter, because flinters have a higher learning curve and can be frustrating. However, if you can master the flintlock, you can shoot anything.
I'f you're really into it, build a kit.

Can you recommend a kit?

I'm a traditionalist myself. Try a Lyman Great Plains or T/C Hawkins. If you get into blackpowder (besides hunting), at least you can show up and compete with them. Half the fun is Rendezvous meets.

There's $4.95 flat rate shipping on items over $100 until Dec. 6th at Cabela's:
[Use promotion code 7flat495 as indicated]
There's also a rebate being offered on the Genesis along with the flat rate shipping, and some user reviews:

If you want to save even more money, look at the CVA Wolf.

I am no longer a traditionalist. I gave up. Not that is was not fun . But my oldest son wanted some serious action. Yet still wanted the ML.
We have had just about every High dollar POS made. The Encore stands alone when it comes to the inlines. Ya I know. The Knights shoot Ok and so do some others. But they still do not hold up to the Encores.
I get pretty serious about accuracy with any gun and the ML is one.
These are dead nuts hole raggers and very strong guns. That is why we use them. I should have been a salesman for T/C. Other then that I'm strickly a Remington 700 shooter.:)
