I've been wanting a Walker for a few years now, I'm considering going with the Uberti kit offered by Dixie Gun Works. Should be fun to do!
Has anyone here bought that kit? Any tips or recommendations? I'm mostly worried about finishing the grip and either color case hardening the frame, or plating it ( I have supplies to plate either Nickel, Black Nickel or Silver ).
I have some oxpho-blue on hand, that should give a nice finish.
I figure my finished kit will probably not match my other Ubertis, but that's ok too.

I have been thinking the same thing. I will have to wait until Christmas is over to spend the money but it looks worth it to me.

Yeah, me too. It'll be fun to do, I've never done a gun kit before. I want to try color case hardening it with bone and leather charcoal, hope that works!

You guys got my curiosity up, so went to my book rack and got out the Dixie catalog. I found two Walker kits. The Uberti Kit listed in my catalog has to have a typo, it lists the pistols price as $350. and the kit as $375. Has anyone verified what the price really is??
Thanks
Jim

It's $285 for the Uberti Walker kit. $15 to ship.
It's no real savings, but should be fun to do...I hope
