Hey guys, I'm lookin for a real nice 1911 mainly just for target and maybe a tiny bit for looks lol...Gotta be a stainless with 5" barrel...I'm lookin at the Smith-Wessons and Springfields, but would be open to others. I'd like to keep 'er under 8-900. Thanks!

The Colt model 01970 I bought recently has been perfect out of the box.

I had the Pointman in 10mm. Is was a VERY well made piece. Tight and accurate. Very well made and has gotten a lot of good reviews.

That Colt is nice. I'm sure many will chime in about that one. Hmmmm, I may have to look at that one too.

Colt, Springfield.

Of course if you want to spend some bucks, Les Baer, Ed Brown, Wilson, RRA, SA.

I just bought a Dan Wesson Classic Bobtail. I've never seen a slide fit that nice. With the barrel out the slide can be moved easily by hand but if you tip it barrel end straight down it will not slide off. It's amazing quality for the price.

My vote goes for the Colt.

Dollar for dollar, I see Colts as the best 1911 on the market. As a matter of fact, I am supposed to be going to get my new Colt Special Combat Government...soon. :D

Springfield will save you a few dollars and is a RELIABLE gun.

I like springfield, but wouldn't sneeze at a Colt or Dan Wesson, either.

My preferance is for Colt's, with Springfield a close second.
The Dan Wesson's look nice, but I have no personal experience with them so I cannot comment.

A Springfield Loaded in 9mm would make you a very good target gun. Nice gun, accurate, cheap ammo.
