Quick Q:

Is the Glock 19 Grip narrower in any way than that of the 17 or is it just shorter?

Just shorter. All of the 9mm grips are the same outside size, and in fact can use the same magazines. So, if you like the G26, but want to use the G18's 33-round magazines for kicks, knock yourself out and have a blast-fest. :)

I like the G19's grips (length) the best.

G19's grip is just a tad too small for my hands, length wise, but +2 mag extensions handle that well.

Just shorter.

The fingergrooves on the 3rd gen G19 are spaced closer than the fullsize G17/34. At least it feels that way to me.

Just shorter from top to bottom. The distance around it and to the trigger is the same.

17 = fullsize grip, 19=compact grip :D
There is a small difference in grip length, but the circumference of the grips are the same

The grip on the 19 is shorter, but both guns have a slight hump similar to a 1911 with an arched mainspring housing on the backstrap. Since the 19 is shorter this moves the hump closer to youir hand. Some find this annoying. I did not even notice until someone pointed it out to me.

Too bad I don't have my camera with me. I'll post up a photo.

For me the 17/22 frame feels like it's greater in circumference than the 19/23, particularly around the bottom. I much prefer the 19/23 frame, and so does everyone I've had try shooting them back to back.

Certain laser sights are not interchangeable between 17/22 and 19/23 models because they do have slight differences in the grip at the top of the backstrap.

Again, just a rumor from my local shop.

There have been a few subtle changes in the grips over the 'generations'...

I have a 2nd generation Glock 17 and my brother has a second generation Glock 19...

To me, his Glock 19 feels better in my hand than my Glock 17. The backstrap on his Glock 19 doesn't bulge quite as much towards the bottom of the backstrap...

However, when I handled a current (4th, I think) generation Glock 17 and Glock 19, the Glock 17 grip felt better to me...

Make sure that you actually hold the gun that you're thinking of buying in your hot little hand before forking over the dough...
