I have been seeing numerous ads in magazine with .45acp ammo that feature a bullet with a white colored polymer ball on the tip. Has anyone seen this before and can anyone tell me more about it. I tried to search but i dont think the search function is working. Thanks! I attached a picture also,

Don't know much about it, but I did a google search and found it for sale at www.the-armory.com. Here is their sales blurb:

Innovative new JHP bullet with a polymer ball in the cavity. The ball allows smooth feeding and chambering in all guns while preventing the cavity from becoming plugged with material to ensure expansion. Recovered bullets have 80%+ weight retention. 45 AUTO+P 165 GR. PB 1225 FPS/550 FTLBS POW'RBALL 20 ROUND BOX

Yeup...expensive stuff! It functioned fine. Believe it's Pow'r Ball...yes, that is the stuff. When I bought it, it ran the better part of $1.10 per round. :)

I also found these but im not sure what the purpose is in using a polymer cap...is it for feeding issues or is it another marketing scheme.

The 'ball" at the front aids in proper feeding, and it also helps to produce reliable expansion after hitting target by wedging into the HP.

Don't know if this is considered a hollowpoint or not, but if it isn't, then it is a useful design for states and localities that do not allow civilian use of JHP ammo.

It is probably useful in a GI mil-spec 1911 that won't feed heavy JHP reliably.

Other then that, I can't see myself shooting .38 Special bullet weights out of a .45 ACP pistol, even if it is going pretty darn fast.
