I got bored on saturday so I bought a walther p22 and got a cherry deal, 215.75 out the door. I had shot my buddies before and it more jams than a smucker factory due to bad mags. So I was a little skeptical, but I got it any way.

Took it home cleaned it and inspected it. Fit is what you expect from a plastic pistol. No tool marks on the inside or out side. The finish is satin smooth, but I dont know what it is, If you could let me know that would be great. That barrel sure is interesting....

I had a brick of ammo and some left over remington something or other. Well loaded up the mags and let loose, boy that thing did not jam/stove pipe like my buddies did. However, I did have some failure to extract, my best guess is that some of the .22 ammo was a little light in the powder area. So other than that it was flawless and so fun to shoot. I am still getting use to the trigger, but other than that I was impressed. If the big brother is just as much fun I may have to pick it up in a few months.

OH. I was not really shooting for accuracy, I was going to break the thing in and 350 rounds later it was running even smoother than when I first started. I did take some shots for accuracy and at 20 feet I popped a pop bottle lid with 2 shots.

Sounds like a good deal on that pistol...

I bought mine used, but it has been reliable enough that I recently made arrangements to buy a second.

The first, lately loaded with CCI Velocitor ammo, accompanies me while mowing my place, and only this past Friday, this pistol/ammo combo dispatched a skunk that thought it could take up residence in my tractor shed.

This same pistol has quite a few turtles and two snakes to its credit as well.

Good little guns, IMO.

I am waiting to get a few turtles and what not on this one. I was really liking the accessories that some people can get. I want to mount my current reddot on it, but it may have to wait for the mounts. Does anyone state side make mounts for it yet? Or is it strictly in the europeian countries?

...the second one went back to S&W three weeks ago and this was the replacement for the first one...both guns ate itself up...the slide would chop a nice grove on the frame(right side) right next to the little bump it has on the frame...keep your eyes pealed on that area...hopefully int wont be a lemon like mine:mad:

I got one a few weeks ago.
Myself, and 3 others that have shot it, love it.
No frame gouging on mine.
It shoots bulk ammo just fine, but with the Remington bulk, I get about 10% light strikes.
(Had the same results with my Ruger MKII.)
With Federal bulk, it shoots all day with no problems.

I installed the lower front site, because mine was shooting a little low.
Then, I adjusted the rear site, to get the shots centered.
Pretty neat for a $250 gun.
(And yes, you got a good price on yours.)

I give the P22 really high marks for being a fun-to-shoot gun.

I really enjoy mine. Had it for maybe nine months. Guess I got one of the good ones. Remington Golden Bullet, zero problems. CCI Blazers, zero problems. Remington Subsonic, zero problems(which surprised me). Cartridge my P22 absolutely hates are Federal Lightnings, FTF every single time. They are  .

..and they've both been great. They seem to like the high velocity rounds the most, with "Yellow Jackets" and "Mini-Mags" in the lead. (You know how you can just "feel" that a certain gun likes a certain type ammo the best? I "feel" that way with the truncated cone Y-J's and M-M's.)
Seems odd that some people have the same problem over and over. I feel for them. It's kinda sad (not to mention scary) when you let FedEx have your pistol and drive away empty handed.

I also have one and really enjoy shooting the little thing. To make it more fun I was wondering what kind of accessories are available for it. Since it has a rail, does anybody know which companies make lights, sights, or laser points that can be added to it?

215.75 out the door :cuss:

I paid $50 more. That's ok, I love mine too! Using Rem Hi Vel most of the time.

I've got a post running on what my experiences have been with the Walther P22. So far, not so good. For the particulars and soem leads on a few goodies(including the nifty little frame mount for optics), look up the post "P22 European-only accessories".

If you go to the Walther webpage, you'll find the rail and the reddot scope.
The cool accessory that I want is the silencer! :D

I don't know how much it cost. Probably around $200.
Then there is another $200 or so for the license. :(

Oh, well, I don't really need a silencer anyway.

I wonder if a laser that would fit a Glock or other gun would fit the rail?
Using the rail to mount a scope above the gun seems like overkill to me.

One thing that strikes me as strange about these guns.
Mine won't get through a mag of Remington bulk without a FTF.
It eats Federal bulk all day.
Others have exactly opposite results.
How weird is that?

mini- my future father-in-law is the one who bought the gun for me as a gift about a year ago. He is currently in the process of obtaining a pilot silencer for his p22. He has purchased it and paid all the fees but is awaiting all the paperwork to be completed before he is allowed to get it from his local FFL. First the local sheriff's department has to do their thing and then it has to go to the BATF.
It will for sure be pretty cool when he finally gets it. He has heard many objections from other family members and friends as to why he needs a silencer. But we just laugh and tell them "Cause we can!" I cant wait till he finally gets it and we can test it out.

I have the P22 3.42" and a P99 9mm.
What a great set!
The P22 has >2000 rnds though it. Mostly CCI stuff works well.
The bulk pack Remington Goldens worked ok when there happened to be primer in the rims (I've had many duds)!
Two of my friends had to get them after trying mine, one got a 3.42", another the 5". Both have had zero issues in 6 mths.
Enjoy!
