Hey guys I just got my ruger m77 270 last fri and im very happy I chose it, the quality on this gun is great and I was worried about the trigger from past post but I'm very pleased because for some reason it has a light trigger. It is all wheather and is going to serve as my deer, boar gun. I haven chosen to probably go with 150 grainer but was wondering if anyone has a m77 270, and if so what brand cartriges works best in it. Also what would everyone reccomend on optics, black because I dont like silver scopes and also 3-9x40 under 70 bucks, maybe a bushnell banner but any reccomendations would be great. Thanks Also does any one manufacture a removeable magazine for the m77 I know the make some for the remington bdl but do they for the m77?

Try the 140gn bullets----had a .270 that would put the 130 grainers into a 6-inch scatter pattern----then put 150's into an inch to inch and a half group------140's from a cold barrel would go into the same hole-----go figure.

Same gun---just different loads------try all the bullet weights and see what your gun likes best.

Try Chuck Hawks Scopes by Price Class (http://www.chuckhawks.com/scopes_price_class.htm), and there are other articles one level above that. Most folks try to match the quality of the scope with the quality of the rifle. You have a pretty good rifle - if you can, you might want to stretch to a little higher scope class than $70.
