I would like a side by side shotgun that I could use both in cowboy action shooting and shoot skeets with. 12 guage. In the cowboy its seems coach guns are more popular but I think longer barrels would be better for hunting or skeets.

Remington Spartans. Built like tanks. And their coach guns can be had with changeable choke tubes, giving them a little more reach, thus making them more versatile. I shoot clays with mine.

I'll give my daily Spartan recommendation, too. :D

Someone is going to be here shortly recommending the Stoeger, but you'll need the more expensive one that takes choke tubes, standard ones don't have chokes way I understand it.

Sorry I'm late. ;)

I've got a 12 ga Uplander (#31140) with 26" barrels and dual triggers. My 14yo daughter, her friend, her friend's father and I are going out tomorrow morning pheasant hunting. Guess what I'll be carrying ? :D

The only ones with fixed chokes are the 16 ga, 28 ga, and .410's, all the others have screw in chokes. http://www.stoegerindustries.com/firearms/uplander.tpl click on "Specifications" for more info. Swings like a dream and has stood me well while hunting, as well as when I practice by shooting Skeet and Sporting Clays.

I got it along with Condor Combo (12 and 20 ga barrels) for $800 total, out the door, a little over two years ago. No problem with either gun other then having to tighten the stock on the Condor after about 2,000 rounds (It's got over 5,000 through it now.)

There are also 311's still out there in pawn shops and gunshops.

Try them all and get the one the fits you best.

I own a Stoeger Uplander 12ga double trigger 26" brls and can't say enough good things about it. They take Mossberg chokes and I think I payed $300 for mine. My father sometimes uses his early 80's Stevens 311 with fixed chokes but has admitted he prefers my stoeger. They are a good inexpensive SxS. The only advice I would give is look through a few of them if you decide to buy one, I found that some had a looser fit than others out of the box.

Just as a quick after action......

My daughter got the two that flushed in her zone of fire. I got one that flushed in my zone of fire. The other father/daughter team with us went 0 for 4 on birds flushed in ttheir zones. :( :(
