Finally got to the range with the smoke pole to try it. Now, I intentionally didn't scrub the bore, bit I couldn't hit paper at 100. At 50 it was 3" high and an inch and a half right, but main thing was it was 3" groups at 50 yards. I get that at 100 with Pyrodex. I didn't mess with the sights. I'm thinking, since this stuff doesn't have the power of Pyrodex, maybe it's shooting too slow and not getting enough spin on the bullet? Anyway, I didn't take my chronograph with me, but I'll stiffen up the load from the 90 grains (by volume BP) I was shooting and try it again another time.
It did burn REAL clean and clean up easy. Now, to get the stuff to work right. :banghead: Reckon I'll waste another 25 bucks on a can of 777 and try that next.

Mac - I have tried the 777 and find it has plenty of punch. Slightly different POI from the Goex 2F I was using but light years cleaner and easier to clean up.

go with pyrodex or 777. don't waste your time hunting with APP
The sticks are horrible....the edges have so many gouges in them I don't see how they can shoot consistently....they don't in my muzzleloader

JSG has worked well for me in my Encore. Have killed 7 deer and about a dozen hogs with JSG and the 250 grain SST. One hog was at a measured 192yards.
JSG likes a very tight fitting sabot. The load also has to be tamped very well. Consistency in tamping is more important with JSG than with 777 or Pyrodex.

Hey There.
I tested the powder you mentioned. I got the same results, big groups from a gun that will rag a hole with 80 grs. of Pyrodex "P" and a 300 grainer.
That stuff stinks worse then the Black stuff too.
My current load is 80 grs of "P" with the 250 Red Hots. Very tight , like touching at 100 meters and just killed my second buck this year with that load. Those bullets are wicked. 100% expansion and no loss of weight.:)

Sure, why not?
Then you can start mixing up batches of different percentages of powders, including all of the ones you've listed above to try to find a magic combination that will work so good that you'll never be able to duplicate it again!
It's the quest for the Holy Grail don'tcha know? :D:D
