According to the IDPA rulebook I downloaded off www.idpa.com sights must be "standard notch and post type".

So does that mean that Ashley Xpress sights aren't legal?

What about the triangle/trapazoid sights of my Steyr M40?

As far as I know they are, but my club's not really got any rule nazis.

I think the rule is more about optics than anything else, as I've not seen anyone crying about the occasional ghost ring set up either.

But you really should check with your local club lawyer :)

Express sights are allowed in IDPA, says so in the LGB. Steyr trapezoid are still a notch and post, even though deformed, so they are ok, too.

"Ghost ring" pistol sights are NOT allowed in IDPA. Your club may admit them - I would, to encourage shooting - but they are specifically disapproved by B'ville and would not be allowed in a sanctioned match.

Jim is correct. I run AO sights on my IDPA gun.
