I posted to a thread and it came out OK except it was attributed to a different member. What's up here? Anything I should do?

There was a problem about a week and a half ago where members were getting the attributes of newly registered members, RickT, your alter ego, was a new member at that time. We theorize that the member's cookies were sort-of corrupted with the bad info. Do you recall if you have posted on THR during the last couple of weeks? If not, then your problem was fixed when you re-logged in this morning. If you have posted recently, say yesterday, and you were yourself, then the problem is rearing its ugly head again.

I had posted on the 30th and the week before, but from my work computer I think... I don't believe I had posted from home in quite a while until last night when it had the problem. Just mess-up cookies on the home box I guess, I'll check it tonight to see if it finds me or some other poor guy :) But since I re-logged in I imagine it will be fine...

Good. We think the theory is right, but have no proof. At least your experience didn't disprove it.

There are probably others who posted during the problem window and haven't posted since then, let's hope they read this. :)

Okay... this is interesting. For the people noticing this problem, do you always end up as the same wrong user, or is it seemingly random which wrong user the forum thinks you are? Earlier posts suggested it was random...

"Not farranger", have you tried logging out and then logging in as your proper account? Seems to me it is just a bad cookie or whatever, and logging in again reset it properly.

Or is it that after you log in properly and then leave THR, when you come back you are converted to farranger again?

To the member who is not farranger - Give us a clue, you haven't said who you are supposed to be. Have you logged off, deleted cookies, and logged back in yet? That has corrected the problem in the past.
