are AK sighting tools universal? does the fact I have a yugo or a whatever matter when buying one?

nope. i believe universal. and should work for SKS's too
yugos i cant say for sure. as some AK parts dont fit, but hey, sight tools cost what 7$?

It'll work on all AKs, and Saigas, too.

Not necessarily.
Some people report that the hole in the tool that's supposed to clear the windage drum is too small for some AK's.
The best tool for the money is the Tapco American-made version. Unlike the Chinese tools, the Tapco is made of strong steel and won't bend or break.

My misunderstanding. I thought we were talking about the buttstock cleaning kit with inclusive front sight tool (http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/toolkit.htm).
Second item from the top has a front sight adjustment function built into one end. It is universal among AKs:

My AK sight tool works very well on the SAR weapons simply because I did not like what was available and made my own.

I had that problem with my NcStar sight tool. :(
