I have been looking around and don't know very much about these devices. So, what do you think is the best trigger pull gauge and why? Thanks in advance for your responses.

I like the mechanical RCBS gauge with the pointer that tells the maximum weight it got to as you pulled. That way, you don't have to watch to see where it clicked. Brownells sells them for about $30 I think.

I have the R.C.B.S. mechanical gauge, and it works just fine. It's a great argument settler.

The only gauge that is NRA-legal is the type with hanging weights. I have owned a Lyman electronic gauge for about a year, and for my purposes it works fine. I like the ability to average several pulls to get a representative number. I don't like the fact that it won't read above 12 lbs., but I don't have too many guns that have trigger pulls that high. My carry piece, however, is a j-frame S&W that has a pull exceeding the gauge capacity.

The Wolf ribbed mainspring and rebound spring set will bring it down to about eight pounds.

FWIW, my defense gun is a model 10 and I left all the stock springs in that one as well.;)

I can go 5 for 5 on bowling pins with the 342 from 25 feet. I am going to leave the stock springs in it! Reliability is the key with a carry gun.
