I have a new SIG P220 with an internal extractor in the slide. I cannot figure out how to remove it and SIG won't help.
Anyone done this? Thanks.

http://www.biggerhammer.net/manuals/ note the username/password info near the top of the page

scroll down to the sig sauer autoloading pistol armorers manual - page 29 should have what you need

That was a great source of information.

But it didn't answer my question.

Basically SIG has made 3 different configurations in their auto-loading series:
1) Older type with breechblock in the slide.
2) Newer type with external extractor.
3) My type with no breech block but with internal extractor.

My type has a hole drilled in the side of the slide. The extractor is somehow fitted in and there is some protrusion from the firing pin channel into the extractor. I do not see any springs or other way it is loaded and held in place.

Very simple... if you look closely, you'll see the extractor is bowed, and the outer edge of it is sitting in a groove on the side of the slide. Wedge a small flat-blade screwdriver between the extractor and the side of the slide, enough to pry the extractor out of the groove. Then, using a brass punch (or the end of a BIC pen, as that's what I had sitting on my desk :D), push the end of the extractor down towards the bottom of the slide. It will rotate down, and you can remove it.

The 220 has never had an external extractor.
