N.Y.S.T. marked Colt OP

i have a 4" blue colt op with the above markings on the backstrap. serial no. is885659. is this a new york state trooper revolver and would the markings add anything to the value?any source of info that would tell what barracks or division it was issued to?thanks in advance.

A collector of that agency's sidearms would be interested in a really nice example. Otherwise, police marked guns generally don't bring any extra money.

Well, I can tell you the gun was made in 1962. I don't know about your markings though; they do use "State Trooper" as a designation on their patrol cars, but they also go by New York State Police or New York State-Division of State Police. You might try going to their website to see if someone there could provide you with more info.
