Golt Cup Trophy Question

Hello,
I ordered a new Gold Cup Trophy (Blue) for when I return from the Middle East. Colt appears to use the Champion (formerly Elliason) model 860-301 rear sight. Any opinions/experience with this sight? Some questions that come to mind - Is it durable (I'll use standard pressure 230 gr loads, and don't plan to bounce it off the pavement much)? Is it reasonably suitable for concealed carry (the size seems modest but it might be snag-prone), and if not can it be modified?
If the sight is problematic, is there another one recommended that can easily replace it, and still use the existing front sight?
Tks/Bowwave

I use a Gold Cup Trophy as a carry, match, and home defense pistol. The rear sight is marked Elliason and holds up well. I have had no trouble from the pistol through about 10000 rounds.
In my opinion the GCT is an excellent pistol that is hard to beat.

Loose if you're lucky....I have, and many others as well, had the pin completely shear. A common modification is to have the roll pin replaced with a solid pin. I've had that shear too. I just replace them when they break.

You won't have any trouble with it other than the sight pin can walk out after a while. Just push it back in with your finger or replace the pin. No big deal.
The Gold Cup is intended for target work, meaning lots and lots of shooting.
You would have to be a serious competitor to wear out this gun.

The Gold Cup only seems to get better as you shoot it. The pivot pin can walk, as has been mentioned.

If you call Colt I believe they will send you a solid pin with a slight bend in it.
I replaced mine shortly after I bought the pistol and added a small drop of red loctite to each side. I do use mine for CCW so I wanted to be sure.

FWIW, my friend brought a Gold Cup to an introductory pistol class a few years ago and found the rear sight cut his hand up when doing malfunction clearance drills. He switched to a different pistol on the second day.
