This one's for all you PD fans!! (you know who you are!) Why someone would do this to a perfectly good firearm is beyond me. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Only $2000.

A beautiful weapon. I'd like to get a Llama engraved model and a Star S model engraved if they made them, but I'm up against the utility aspect. If your life is in danger everything else comes in second place. It wouldn't be the first safe queen in my safe so I guess it doesn't make much difference if it's pretty, I wouldn't shoot it anyway, got lot's of shooters. Would one be correct to assume that a factory engraved Spanish gun would have superior fit and finish compared to a plain jane gun?

I had the opposite though, why would someone put that much work in such a low value gun? Kinda like having Chip Foose customize your '76 Pinto station wagon :scrutiny:

I really like mine, too. It looks a little dull compared to the one in the picture, and the piece of electrical tape on the grips might ruin the overall effect, but it's a pretty solid shootin' iron nonetheless. It ain't fancy, but I've never had it do anything but go "bang" when I pull the trigger.

That one got a little too much love I think. Maybe a little oil, and few trips to the range would have sufficed. The result is a wonder though.

"Low value gun?" No, not really. Not the semiauto equivilent of the Pinto, either. I've known a few very experienced and knowledgeable professionals who considered the PD a worthy carry pistol ... a little before its time, perhaps, witness the Micro-Compacts, Ultras, etc. available now.

Was a time that the PD was the only little .45 out there. Ayoob even penned a couple complimentary tributes to the PD back in the day, IIRC.

I have a couple of Llama .380s made in the 1940s that are very good quality miniature 1911s. I wasn't away of the Star PD, need to check that out.

"VALUE" is relative. I bought my Makarov, my FEG HiPower, and both of my Star BMs for around 200 bucks each. They are keepers so thier value is high to me. Star PDs are still relatively cheap but they are no longer in production. Thier value is going to continued to increase for years to come. If it was mine, It would be worth a set of grips and a new finish. Maybe not GOLD and HORN (which is passe by the way, they should really be pearl) grips, but you know what I mean.

My PD isn't quite as 'pretty' as this one.

But, then again, I carry mine...
