I have a scheme so we can make more friends!

December 14, 2007, 05:38 PM
Well my ever entrepreneurial, albeit poor self just had an idea.

I've always tried to spot THR members at gun shows, shooting ranges, gun stores etc. How? I don't know. I often wonder if the gun counter guys know about this site, or maybe they're one of the regulars.

I always come up with a comment to break the ice at gun ranges: "Hey, nice .40, I've never shot that gun in .40, mind if we switch off for a mag?". I think a good ice breaker is in order for us THR users.

Anytime I get into chats with a guy about firearms, I always end up promoting this site, "You on THR? No? You should check it out man, it's a great resource." etc. At our school range the president graciously put up a sign "TheHighRoad.org will answer your questions."

So the selling point for this idea is to:
1. Be able to spot THR members at firearms related gatherings, gun shows, gun stores, gun ranges, etc.
2. Won't be overly bulky, showy, obtrusive, and tell tale.
3. Easy to ignore, and hard not to spot for those "in the know".
4. Make friends, find range buddies, ice breaker, and maybe get THR discounts!
5. Promote THR, and find new members.
6. Only wear it when you feel like it.

What is it you ask? It's a simple wristband!

EX: Lance Armstrong's LIVESTRONG wristband:

Except it would be green and read THR.org or TheHighRoad.org.

Would folks here be interested in one? If there is enough interest I'll go ahead and get into contact and start a small run of these. $5 shipped sound fair?

Of course I'd be willing to give any percentage to THR to support this forum further.

Let me know guys!

P.S. - Mods, Oleg, If this is not allowed or in the wrong section, just let me know!

grumble grumble... another "sheepdog pin"... grumble grumble

December 14, 2007, 05:41 PM
kinda weird, I don't wear jewelry. I'd be more likely to put a small sticker on the back window of my truck.

lol on the sheepdog pin, that was a hilarious escapade.

December 14, 2007, 05:45 PM
Yes yes I did consider the sheepdog pin disaster before I posted. But it is fundamentally different.

Just spot a THR member, nothing to do with concealed weapons or a secret attack force of gun toting ninjas.

I'm not too afraid of the jests, it is just an idea.

It never hurts to ask right?

December 14, 2007, 06:08 PM
It never hurtys to ask, right?

indeed you are correct. I don't know about wrist bands, but some kind of sticker sounds about right.

December 14, 2007, 06:20 PM
+1 to trublue 1776 I'd like to see a window sticker for the back of my truck. Would still be interested in a T-shirt.

December 14, 2007, 06:33 PM
What about hats? Everyone loves hats.

Mr White
December 14, 2007, 06:45 PM
Or a badge. THR badges would be cool. Maybe they could have a little sheepdog or ninja on them too. :D

I might put a THR bumper sticker on my car or truck. Maybe a simple white oval with THR in the center. I'd also wear a THR hat to a gun show.

December 14, 2007, 06:49 PM
Do we get to have a secret handshake to prove the pin/sticker/hat/tattoo is not a clever fake?

December 14, 2007, 06:55 PM
No no, it would be a convert whistle that only dogs and THR ninjas could hear.

December 14, 2007, 07:00 PM
if some one wants to make s Tshirt that says RKBA on the front with a copy of 2A on the back. i wouldnt need the wristband. right now im wearing one of 2 Life Liberty Etc pro gun shirts in a south eastern MA college.

be open about it
be strong aboit it
theres not much YOU can loose compared to US or Me.

December 14, 2007, 07:03 PM
How about we get a picture of Sam Sheepdog on a shirt? That would be cool.

December 14, 2007, 07:04 PM
Hrm... THR needs a gift shop period.

December 14, 2007, 07:36 PM
I can usually spot other THR members by the THR shirts and hats that they wear to THR functions.

Our own Correia tends to do a run or two of shirts and hats each year. Keep an eye peeled for his announcements.

December 14, 2007, 07:51 PM
International Oval THR sticker - 3.5 x 5.66, printed on good quality vinyl, die cut.

$2.49 paypal to bogie@posterprep.com with your address.

December 14, 2007, 08:34 PM
I do a run of THR shirts and hats a couple of times a year. Basically as soon as I feel like there is enough interest, I'll take preorders and run shirts.

Anything that is going to have the THR logo on it needs Oleg's direct approval.

December 14, 2007, 08:35 PM
Hey Larry...

e-mail me the cover art... in time for *(^()*& xmas, okay? Can I send it fbmg?

December 14, 2007, 09:18 PM

December 14, 2007, 09:23 PM
Hey Bogie, I don't have a Paypal account... any chance on you taking credit cards?

ETA: I know it would cost you more to porcess the credit cards, you can figure that in with a new price for non-paypal transactions. $5 would be cool.

December 14, 2007, 09:23 PM
An Oleg shirt could also work.

December 14, 2007, 09:24 PM
I say t-shirts.
Ball caps.
They rock.

December 14, 2007, 09:24 PM

Funny, but might be found offensive by some.

Something we have to remember, guys; When we promote 2A and anything else RKBA, we need to do it in a non-offensive fashion. We're trying to win people over, not say "yeah, I got guns. If you don't, piss on ya"

December 14, 2007, 09:43 PM
hank tank, you don't need a paypal account to pay him with paypal. he just needs a paypal account to receive money.

paypal will happily take your credit card

December 14, 2007, 09:44 PM
Bordelmo, ninja secret-handshake jokes aside, I think it's a good, contemporary idea. Personally, I don't wear t-shirts much, and I'm not a ballcap guy. And one more sticker on the truck at 65mph doesn't do much to break the ice or start conversation.

No, it's not in-your-face activism like a t-shirt with the 2A on it, but neither is it supposed to be that type of activism. I really don't see it as a CCW badge  or sheepdog pin either, any more than any other 2A or firearm/hunting t-shirt.

If a THR hat is ok, then this is ok.

Sure, I'd get one for $5, especially if some part of the proceeds went to support the site.

December 14, 2007, 09:51 PM
Guys, look at one of Oleg's posts, and you'll see his gallery, etc., in his sig. He sells t-shirts.

Paypal is what I use to process credit cards.

December 14, 2007, 09:54 PM
Well, if I'm ever able to talk Oleg into coming to St. Louis shooting, we'll probably burn FAR more ammo than I'll make off a few stickers. Or we can work something out. Like maybe me putting up a big THR banner, if someone will send me a nice high res copy of the board logo, on the fence on the way into Knob Creek, just fer instance.

December 14, 2007, 09:56 PM
oopsie, dangit!

December 14, 2007, 09:59 PM
Oh, and if you want something pretty cool... Oleg and Chris Muir collaborated on a calendar...

Only prob is that they forgot the "calendar" part... So you can print and use it with next year's too...

I'm with the ball caps. Ever since I burned my eyelid, I always wear on to the range.

Black T-shirts with THR in white block letters on the back. Like the SWAT shirts. :D

The THR "country" sticker is OK with me.

December 15, 2007, 05:20 PM
T-shirts and stickers but with sensible shipping to the UK.I am sorry no girly wrist bands.

December 18, 2007, 09:02 AM
I like the "country" ovals. How about two--one THR and one RKBA, both to have www.thehighroad.org in small print at bottom of oval. Suggested formats: sticker, sew-on patch, magnetic back sticker.

December 18, 2007, 12:56 PM
That's the problem with marketing something to "gun" folks - everyone wants something "custom."

"Custom" takes time and costs money.

December 18, 2007, 01:01 PM
Any percentage you say?

Try making it 12930912724298734%

December 18, 2007, 01:48 PM
wwthrd-- No. I couldn't in good faith wear this. When I read it, that little voice says:
