Picked up a used S&W99 in .45 last weekend and had a chance to try it out today. I already have a S&W99 in .40 and I like the feel so much I found the matching .45. While they appear identical, the .45 is just slightly larger, maybe 1/4 inch in length and maybe just a tad in width as well.
Put a total of 4 boxes of ammo thru it, 2 CCI aluminum and 2 CCI brass and had no problems at all. The sights were a bit off but after adjusting a few clicks right, the gun hit POA every time. I really like the feel of these in my hand and they are very comfortable to shoot, especially for a poly gun. The recoil was very manageable and getting back to POA quickly was no problem at all.
These guns are a snap to breakdown for cleaning, just pull down the latch in front of the trigger guard and the slide comes right off. Overall I reall like these pistols and may find a 9mm to complete the set... Dave
