My son just got a Benelli with screw in chokes. Some say steel OK but they all have xxx, or xxxx or xxxxx on them, if it was a movie I would know what this means , but could someone tell me which one would be the full choke,and which would be the mod. or what the x means

Benelli choke tubes should have notches on the front of them you can feel with a fingernail in the dark.
They also should be laser engraved very lightly on the side with what they are, and whether they can be used with steel shot ot not.
ONE = Full
TWO = Improved Modified
THREE = Modified
FOUR = Improved Cylinder
FIVE = Cylinder.
ONE or TWO are not to be used with steel shot.
The THREE, or Modified will probably pattern steel about like lead in a full choke.
See Owners Manual = Page 98:

Basically more "X"s means that it will give a wider spread in the pattern.
