I'm looking to buy a small folder for my grand father for christmas. He uses I believe an old old old.... case knife which has been sharpened so much that you can't use the nail slot to life the blade up. Ive been looking around and was wondering which brand you guys like for this type of folder. Looking to spend between 20-50 dollars. Thanks for the replys ahead of time.

Btw this is the type i'm talking about incase I didn't describe it enough.

ihopewewin,
The three bladed knife in the Bass Pro add would be called a
"Stockman" in knife lingo. (Pen blade, Sheepfoot and Spey blades).
Case of course makes several "Stockman" choices and several different prices.
You cannot err in the purchase of a Case product.
Since the Schrade demise in 2004 and the recent Camillus closure, Case stands alone in the U.S. cutlery market.
Too bad you don't live nearby as a local store was closing out their Case line this past week at 50% off.
I scored heavily on some nice stuff at really less than half price.
Respectfully Zeke

I'd go with one of the Case folders as they are very traditional and something your Grandfather will be familiar with. Here is a link to a Case Trapper Model from my favorite online seller. I just bought a knife from them and had it in less than a week. http://www.newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=6656

For a more modern knife, the Spyderco Native that is sold by Walmart is a solid little knife. Fits nicely in your pocket too. It is cheaper at Walmart. I believe the link is for a serrated version, but there is a picture of the plain edge one too. http://www.newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=3849

Definitely another Case XX. USA made, and lots to choose from.

This is my favorite pusher:

you might want to try to find a Case mini trapper, IMHO it fit the pocket better than the full size trapper.

Thanks for the advice I guess i'm going with another case. I can't order it online because I don't want to pay an extra 13 bucks so it can get here before christmas. So i'm gonna pick one up at the local bass pro. :D

You should have it before Christmas from New Graham. I have never had anything in stock take more than a week. They are in WV, you save sales tax and probably will pay $6.95 UPS ground shipping. However, I can't guarantee that. :)

The Mini Trapper is a good size too for a pocket knife for general use.

Added: The extra shipping should be just over and above the $7; so it is not as bad as it seems.

Oh yeah, stay with the case. Carried mine for, as near as I can remember, about 37 years. hasn't failed me yet.
