My New Tikka T3

I just got this in 2 days ago. Probably one of the lightest rifles I've ever held. Feels great in your hands and smoothest bolt I've personally ever woked. If it shoots as good as it feels, then I'm sold on Tikka's from now on.

Newt, What caliber is it? Have you shot it yet? How's the fit and finish- does it look like a good quality rifle, or has Beretta cut more than weight on this new line.

The caliber is .243. Haven't shot it yet. I was paying for it a little at a time until I paid for it completely. I'm going to have to do the scope the same way, which is the only reason I have yet to shoot it. Out of all of the rifles I've ever held/owned/shot, this one fits and feels better in my hands than any . The hardest part will be to actually own the rifle and not be able to shoot it. :banghead:
As for the quality, like I said before, the bolt is the smoothest bolt I've personally ever worked. It's almost effortless. It has a detatchable mag. as well, which I really like. The only thing I can find to have even the slightest hang-up on is the mag. It's made out of the same material as the stock as opposed to stainless. It feels very light and almost chinsy. I suppose they did that to keep the weight of the rifle down. But until I use that mag. regularly I won't know how well it holds up.
The rifle also came drilled and tapped with sling mounts and scope rings. Also a plus. Truthfully, I will probably stay with Tikka rifles from now on unless I have trouble with it. I don't foresee any trouble with it though. That's how much I really liked this rifle even before I shot it. Hopefully it will shoot as good as it looks and feels. :D
Any other questions are welcomed. I'll answer the best I can.

I was inches away from buying one of those, Im still interested I just became sidetracked on another gun. Im looking forward to seeing how it shoots and if there are any cons. Depending on your opinion, I might get one next month.
btw how much was it?

Hang on to that mag----cheapest spares I've found are $53--OUCH!!
I have that exact same rifle---caliber and all---I put a Zeiss scope on it---but have yet to get out and shoot it because I'm working too much. I'm not really worried about it not shooting good though---after all it's a Tikka.
Those little T3's just blew all the competition out of the water and is the only rifle I'll buy now---well maybe a Browning A-Bolt------Ruger--Winchester and Remington---its back to the drawing board for you guys----you need to get the quality up and the costs down----just like Tikka did.

It was cheaper than my last Remington. I'm sure you noticed but it's Stainless/Synthetic. From my dealer he could sell me one Blued/Synthetic for 475(tax included) or for 50 bucks more Stainless. Excellent price. I don't know if every dealer is that cheap, but these T3's should still be cheaper than just about anything else out there that's comparable.

Place where I bought mine had blued/syn for $449 and stainless/syn for $499. I think magnums are $30 more. Probably just regional differences.
They also can't seem to keep em on the shelf---he says they flying out the door. I inquired about a stainless/syn T3 in .338----all he had left from his first shipment was a .30-06 and a .270. Guess I'll have to wait till everyone else has gotten theirs before I get my .338.
