What is it and what brand and what size caps are you using ? If the caps are no.11, try using No 10, or just squeeze the capsa between the thumb and forefinger untill they are oval then put it on. Dont dry fire the weapon, that damages the nipples. You may have to replace the nipples. Now that Ive told you all the good news I invite you to join the world of BP shooting.

What Snaggletooth said, smaller caps and give them a squeeze. Just a fair warning, never fire the gun without caps on all the loaded chambers. Failing to do so may result in a chainfire which isn't to fun. Talking from exp. on that one. I had two go off at one time, didn't hurt anything, but made a huge boom!

Scottfrgma, good morning. You must be a Hank William's fan. "No matter how I struggle and strive, I'll never get out of this world alive. Well my fishing pole's broke, the creek is full of sand, my woman run away with another man"....
Scott, call Cabela's at 1-800-237-4444. When they answer the phone tell them you need to talk to a product specialist about blackpowder revolvers. They are real nice people and will take as much time with you as you need, plus you can call them back as many times as you need, and they will get you lined out.
There are lot's of smart people on this site to (years and years of accumulated knowledge) but sometimes it's easier to call a number and get an answer right then instead of waiting for someone on here to come across your question(s).
Welcome to the greatest sport on the face of the earth, a never ending and always learning sport. Well, anyway...Okay...

.44walkersabot your showing your age (or good taste) your the first one to figure my line out, thanks for the help.
I don't know excatly what type of gun this is, my wife bought it becase it was in a civil war collectors kit. I am using #10 caps, I have tried compressing the caps but that does not help much, I think I might need to replace the nipples they look sorta deformed, it would be a cheep fix and it can't hurt

You could go with some Tresco nipples, they are also #11.
