CZ82s - LET THE BUYER BEWARE

I mentioned one of the mail order distributors had CZ82s for $150. I've since read that they are in poor condition, at least cosmetically.

The ones from AIM are said to be in better condition. The last time I checked they were $229 but that was a month ago.

If anyone buys one please let us know how it works out. I'm especially interested in hearing what the trigger is like on those.

THANKS!

Poor condition? Hmmm, the ones I have seen posted said they looked great, some said they looked new. Well, they are military turn ins, so some will be beat, I don't doubt. BTW, for $150, you don't expect new looking, do you? :)
Go to AIM, and ask for hand select for another $10, or whatever they charge, and enjoy a well made gun.

Some are shot out crap, some are OK. It's a crap shoot, pardon the pun.

I got one from SOG during their Christmas sale. It's in almost perfect shape. The trigger is awesome, and alreay, like 3 people I know want one. I fired 200 rounds through it Saturday, 100 of which were +P. It fired them all without a problem. I really like this little pistol.

I've got a couple (new) CZ83 pistols and have thought about adding a CZ82 but all the ones I've seen at gun shows have looked pretty bad.

I've bought guns from AIM and they have all been in better condition than advertised.

A couple years ago I called AIM to order two Makarovs. They told me to wait until the next shipment because what they had probably weren't up to what I wanted.

There's no +P Makarov that I've heard of, except possibly hot hand-loads.

If you don't mind my asking, who is the distributor that has them for $150?

Just remember (before you get too excited) that 9x18 ammo has doubled in price in a lot of areas and supply is way down (in my area).

I got one from AIM a few months ago and couldn't be more pleased. Great shooter and excellent on the finish. Except for a few light scratches on the grips (I plan to get Dennis grips anyway) and a gentle bump here and there (that you would expect on a 20 year old pistol...let alone a police issue), mine looks like it has led a very uneventful life.

SilverBear seems to be the most economical 9x18. Check your smaller shops, they might have some other brands sittin around for a while. My small local was clearing out a bunch of S&B, so suffice to say, I'm reloading those cases as much as possible.

You guys realize the MFS is not "+P"? It does not have higher than standard pressure and averages slightly less than 1,000 fps. Apparently MFS thought that label was a good marketing ploy.

I bought a CZ-82 before it went C&R and was so pleased with it I bought another when the ATF decided it was C&R eligible. Very nice handguns at any price. An outrageous value for the current available price. Best deal in a C&R handgun currently available. Here's a picture of mine:

If you like pictures of CZ pistols. Here are more pictures of the first CZ-82 I picked up as well as his older brother (CZ-75)

Just ran 2 boxes of WWB (ttl: 100 rds) through my new-to-me VZ-82; fed flawlessly & made nice groups. The finish isn't perfect, with a number of chips in the paint, but it is a MILSURP. This is a C.A.I. import.

Does anyone know which holsters fit a vz-82? I'm no longer near a major gun retailer where I can try multiple holsters out of the box for fit. I do know the VZ82 doesn't fit my Firestar holster (Bianchi Shadow for PPK-sized pistols).

Ray,

I bought two uncle mike's sidekick iwb holsters: a left handed for tucking behind my back, and a right handed for right side 2:35 and 9:30 crossdraw.

I also got an uncle mike's sidekick owb with thumbstrap.

All are size 1.

Who cares, it's brass cased & boxer primed!

I ordered two cz-82's from AIM a couple of months ago.
I must have got the bottom of the bucket.
Both have a very rough finish, looks like they were kicked across the floor.
I guess I should have went for the hand picked.

This is my CZ82 and it was one of the earliest ones sold by AIM. The exterior of mine is far from perfect but the interior is like a new handgun. I consider the CZ82 to be a best buy. Regards, Richard:D

Thanks, jrou111! I appreciate the info. The Uncle Mikes IWB holster usually doesn't work too well for me; I'm just not comfortable with their retention. I do like their belt holsters, though.

For IWB, I just discovered www.brigadegunleather.com makes holsters for both the vz82 and cz83.

Mirage: How do they shoot?

Nice thing about a painted surface; you can always re-paint if you like the way the gun shoots.

Check out the pro work (http://www.larsontactical.com/id20.html). Or you can DIY. (http://www.houtsenterprises.net)

I have a couple from AIM. They are like new, just terrific.

They shoot great. Dead on, no failures to feed of any kind, after hundreds of rounds. The trigger is outstanding. Buttery smooth DA, and fantastic single action. You know how they say you should be surprised when the gun fires when pulling the trigger? With the CZ-82, I am always surprised-the trigger is that good.

I have CorBon Pow'r Ball for defense ammo, and Silver Bear for fooling around.

These are modern guns, made in the 80's and 90's. You cannot go wrong with one.

Welcome, Gmountain!

Powerball is very good stuff! It was the only JHP .45acp that I could rely on to feed & function in my AMT backup years ago.

Found out what was bothering me... Pow'rball is Glaser, not Corbon. Minor, but it was bothering me.

******new info:

A google-search on Pow'RBall shows it alternately as being either Glaser or CorBon. A search for "Corbon Glaser" results in:
