I picked up some Hornady Bullets 45 Caliber 200 Grain Total Metal Jacket Combat Target bullets and want to hand load them using Winchester 231 powder. The powder charge listed in Hornady's handbook suggest 5.7 light to 6.8 high power.I am thinking of 6.0 to 6.2. I crossed checked it on Winchester's web site and they don't cover this round .Anybody have any history with this load
I am loading this for a Kimber ultra carry 3.5" barrel. No more Corbon for me.

6.0-6.2 should work just great. I've used 6.0 with that exact bullet (at 1.230" OAL) to get around 880FPS out of my 5" guns.

Make sure you test this round for feeding though, it seems to give problems in some guns, and 3.5" 1911s are much less forgiving with feeding issues than 5" 1911s.
