Has anyone ever made an Ar-15 or simular rifle in .22-250? Would their be any benifits to such a rifle? Would it have benifits over a rifle made in .223. What would be some of the drawbacks? How would it compare to an AR-10?Would it be practical in a H.D situation? I was just curious to see peoples input on this.

It would compare well because it would be an AR10.

I thought about having a DPMS chambered for 22-243 Middleston since they are offered in 308 and 243. I wanted a fast enough twist for shooting heavy bullets for 600-1,000 yard. Had a bolt action Savage in this caliber once it was one of the best rounds I have owned but is strictly a reload cartridge.

I think I read that Les Baer made an AR in 22-250 and 204.

You won't fit 22-250 in an AR. It's too long, unless you plan on a single shot rifle. It also has a larger 0.473 case head, which won't leave much in the way of bolt face.

What's the difference between a 22-243 and a .22 cheetah?

There are a couple AR-15 uppers available that are chambered in .223 WSSM (along with the other WSSM cartridges). That should give you ballistic performance similar to (probably surpassing) the .22-250.

You would have to build it on an AR10 lower ... I don't see any reason it wouldn't work ... of course it would be a real darn expensive AR.

I'm a fan of the 22-250, but agree that it's not ideal for the AR platform. It won't fit in a 15, and isn't worth the cost of the 10.
