I got myself an early Christmas present today. A Ruger MkIII Hunter. No pics yet, I will bring it home next week. Anyway, forgive me if this question has been asked previously, but I would like to hear from those who have put optics on this pistol and what you guys/gals recommend. Thanks in advance!

I should probably be more specific. My first thought is the Bushnell XLP. I also just recently had an experience with an extended eye relief scope mounted on a browning buckmark and I thought it to be a great combo. Can't afford one of each so.......what do ya think?

Replace the V-notch rear with the square notch from the standard model and the red dot front really rocks! Try it first, you may not want an optic.
I dislike scopes on handguns, the exit pupil of all I've looked at (tried a Leupold first, sold it quickly) is too small making it hard to find at arms length.
I find the fiber optic fronts and a right sized square rear notch to be almost as fast and effective as a red dot optic on the steel plates.
