We were at our friends house last night having dinner. After dinner he gave my boys a Rossi 62A pump 22 for Christmas. :D

He told me that he needed the room in his gun case because he was thinking of purchasing an HK shotgun that took a box magazine.

I did some searching this morning but I can't come up with anything except a CAW that looks like it was develped for the military. Do you guys know of anything that fits his description?

IIRC the HK CAWS has never gone into production. I doubt that is what he would be buying.....

Magazine fed shotgun == Saiga. :) That does make sense. Are you sure he said "HK" and not "AK" ?

IMO, this sounds like the case.

Although,

Benelli did make development guns that were essentially box mag fed 121/Super 90s but don't think they ever saw a sales counter. Only other shotgun I know HK sold (before Benelli) was the 512 for the GSG9 (made by Franchi).

FWIW, I saw an HK shotgun at a gun show in west palm beach a couple of weeks ago. I even commented to a friend that I didn't know HK made a shotgun. I didn't stop to investigate it because the place was packed and I was on the hunt for THE handgun that I was buying myself for Christmas.

HK imported SxS and pump shotguns marked Fabarms but no magazine-fed ones AFAIK.

I know he didn't say AK.

He is not a gun "expert" so maybe he saw something on the Internet or TV that was a prototype or similar. I wasn't going to question him after his generosity.

What are the available shotguns on the market besides the Saiga that are magazine fed?

Well, there are the Franchi SPAS-15 and USAS12 which oar box mag fed. No longer imported but still available if you look and find a seller.

An HK like that would cost a fortune. Get the Saiga 12, IF you can find one! Then mod it to take 10-rd mags or 20-rd drums. No mods really needed to physically use the hi-cap mags, just you're better off legally when you do (and if you want to add other stuff like folding/collapsible stocks and pistol grips, then you pretty much HAVE to mod other stuff to make it legal under 922r, less than 10 "official" BATF foreign parts)
