No need to leave comments, just an honest answer. I will come out and state that when it comes, they will make a criminal out of me.

There is no current legislation for a gun turn in that I am aware of! The above is a purely HYPOTHETICAL situation!

No confusion with any real $#!+ @$$ legislation past or present.

There should only be one answer possible in this poll - the last one.

Anybody who clicks anything else doesn't understand the situation.

Yes, it would be foolish to answer this question with any but the last answer. However, the actions of literally millions of people in Milquetoast Canada, let alone throughout the US, to past and existing gun bans and registration schemes ought to provide SOME measure of guidance.

I used to live in NJ. I knew many gun owners there, and every single one of those that I knew broke that state's AWB (mostly by the act of retaining possession of mags with a capacity of > 15 rounds). One person that I know extremely well left the state a few years back. I know that as that person's car passed the "Welcome to [pick a state that borders NJ]" sign, this person said to his or her significant other words to the effect of "Now you won't have to bail me out." This statement specifically dealt with the several dozen "illegal" magazines in the back of the car, which were and are not illegal in any other places except (IIRC) DC and California. In NJ, EACH of these mags could have resulted in as much as 5 years in prison and a felony record for this person - all for the high crime of owning a stinking stamped-metal box that contained a spring and a bit of plastic!!!! And this illegal law still stands.

I think that if the hypothetical law referred to above, or anything similar to it, becomes law then the Feds will have far more trouble keeping order (read: they'll have many more agents dying of immediate lead poisoning) than they had with Prohibition and the WOD - COMBINED. Alcohol and drugs are mere chemical substances with little if any significance beyond the temporary good feelings that they induce, but guns are both the symbol of Liberty and the means by which it was won and preserved in our history. Without offering any threat to anyone, I present this observation: I probably wouldn't sleep well if I were one of the pols that voted for or signed such legislation, or who ordered confiscations - not knowing that even the POTUS, with the considerable resources of the FBI and Secret Service designed to find and neutralize threats to him, is vulnerable to assassins (ask Nancy Reagan about that, or Caroline Kennedy). I would feel even less comfortable about the security of my family were I such a person. Nor would I feel comfortable about my own or my family's security in such a situation if I were an anti-gun media whore, an informant on one of my neighbors, etc. You see, the police can't be everywhere - and some of the police might just look the other way, since they are also citizens that love their nation. I repeat, this is just an observation. :uhoh:

I'm not sure which draft of which bill you're talking about, but clearly an order to turn in a large class of currently owned firearms would be VERY bad. Most people on the hill realize this, even the antis. So I'd be very surprised to see such a law get too far.

The AWB renewl which is being proposed would make basically all semi auto rifls and shotguns illegal to own.

Just a reminder to not accept defeat by believing that further bans are inevitable! Fight to keep what we have now and harder still to get back what we have lost! There are now 35 states that it is relatively easy to get a carry permit. Way up from even 10-15 years ago! Many of the people on this site and others probably don't KNOW about H. R. 990 because they don't fight by keeping themselves aware in the first place and then even fewer will take the time to actually DO something-even something easy but significant like write their congressman-these letters do have an effect. Sorry for the rant but I truly believe that we can WIN this war for our rights! (And I also wanted to alert you to this bill)! LOL!

Dear Representative Meehan:

I hope that you will cosponsor H.R. 990, the Secure Access to Firearms
Enhancement (SAFE) Act of 2003.

Murder rates have been falling across the country in recent years, as more
and more states are making it easier for citizens to carry firearms.

This should come as no surprise since studies show that guns in good
people's hands are a deterrent to criminals and, ultimately, save lives.

There are now 35 states which make it relatively easy for their citizens
to carry firearms. Most notably, Alaska just recently amended its laws to
allow law-abiding citizens to carry firearms without a permit, and, in
doing so, has put criminals on notice that they face a dangerous existence
in the Land of the Midnight Sun.

H.R. 990 will allow citizens who are authorized to carry in their home
states to travel safely into other states. We desperately need a law like
this, since the right to keep and bear arms should not end at one's state
border.

Again, I urge you to cosponsor H.R. 990. Please let me know what you
intend to do. Thank you.

I'll say it right out: I won't register my guns. Ever. Law or no law.

Refusing to register yourself or your guns is the last peaceful mode of resistance available. Once you're registered, your next choice is going to be: "Do I, or do I not, shoot the people who come for my guns." I won't be forced into that choice by brainless legislators. I won't register myself or my guns, not only for my safety, but for the safety of those who would be sent to confiscate them.

The more people who say that out loud, the less chance there is of registration ever becoming a reality nationwide.

And if my guns are outlawed, it will only serve to make crystal clear just why they are so precious. At that time I will do what so many I know are doing right now in states where this abombination is the law: keep them close, safe and quiet.

Are the feds listening? I certainly hope so. I sincerely hope they are listening very carefully, and their masters in the legislature are getting that information as well. I hope they are under no illusions about just what such legislation would do to this country.

If we should be silent about our intentions, why do we send letters to the congress?

Maybe YOU won't, but the gunshops which have the paperwork info on every gun that you've ever bought will. They dn't need your compliance, they already have all the info they need! :what:

If any of my firearms becomes illegal they will become.... errr, sold. Yeah, they have been sold. To a private citizen. Who's name escapes me. If they want to search the house then they can certainly do so. They won't find them since they have been, *ahem*, sold.
