Understanding that gun cases are not for long term storage, and silica gel is used as dessicant. What do you guys use for dessicant (packaging) in your gun cases? baggies, canister etc. I am trying to decide what would be the best method, looking for containment, ease of use, and something not horible looking.

Are you planning to use the gun case for something other then transportation too & from hunting trips, range sessions, etc?
If that is the intended use, you don't need to use a dessicant at all.
Just get a RIG-RAG and use it to wipe the gun down after you use it.

With gun boxes in and out of heated cars, onto a cold range bench and back into the car, I use the small metal cannisters from Midway.

That is where I am going, When trap league is rolling, I don't always take my shotgun out of the case, only to put it back in 24 hours later. Occasionally it stays in the case (other than shooting) for a couple of weeks at a time. I boresnake, and wipe down, and field clean after each time I shoot and put back in the case for a day or so later. As far as wiping down with a oil/silicone rag, rust can occur on more than external surface's that were wiped down with a rag.
I have lots of bulk dessicant that I use for ammo storage, and safe use, and would like to find something refillable, rather than easy bake.
