I'm looking for a new pocket pistol and the PF9 looks like a good choice due to caliber and weight.
Anyone have any feedback on this little guy?

SEMO Shooter December 22, 2007, 09:45 PM My wife has one. It's small, light weight, and inexpensive. It sits in the safe. She carries her EMP or her Keltec P3AT. Her PF9 was one of the early ones and had to go back to Keltec for warranty. They replaced the barrel & slide. It works now, but I don't think I want to bet her life on it. gpr December 22, 2007, 09:46 PM spend some time over at http://www.ktog.org/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl knicks118 December 22, 2007, 09:54 PM That's strange that you wouldn't find the PF9 as a reliable defense pistol since the P3AT is a .380. I figured that a 9mm is a more reliable round than a .380. I was wondering if the PF9 is reliable and accurate. -v- December 22, 2007, 10:20 PM I have one of the newer generation PF-9's (bought it ~6 months ago). With mine I might have had 1 malfunction, but I'm not sure. Its greatest high-point, and equally its achile's heel, for me, is its light weight. With regular 9mm 115gr target loads it kicks more then most +P+ 9mm out of a 4" barrel or a .40S&W due to the fact that a loaded PF9 weighs around a pound, if not less. I know that after initial release they had some teething problems, but this is the initial batch of 100-500 guns KTOG has a nice history of the PF-9, and can more precisely tell you which guns are updated, and which ones are the older ones that had the teething trouble, based on serial number. However, any new PF-9 you can pick up today, I would wager is the newest version. One other complaint I would have with the PF-9 is that its easy to short-stroke the trigger under stress resulting in light-strikes. However, I would say with proper training its reasonably easy to avoid. hnm201 December 22, 2007, 11:01 PM I'm really digging mine http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=780544 357fan December 22, 2007, 11:36 PM I love mine, but it's a real ammo snob. It won't group cheap ammo at all, but feed it Hornaday TAP 124gr and it'll shape right up. In general, it hates 115gr anything. In summation, get one, and then try a bunch of different loads to find the one it likes. Josh Aston December 22, 2007, 11:53 PM That's strange that you wouldn't find the PF9 as a reliable defense pistol since the P3AT is a .380. I figured that a 9mm is a more reliable round than a .380. I was wondering if the PF9 is reliable and accurate. I think that's what he was saying. That his PF-9 wasn't reliable. 9mm may be a better round than the .380 but if the gun delivering it won't shoot then its worthless. I've never owned a PF9, but the P3AT and P32 I've had were both reliable and decently accurate. And KelTec's customer service is great also. I ruined my P3AT trying to home gunsmith it and KelTec had no problem replacing the parts I jacked up. Babalouie December 24, 2007, 08:53 AM Its my main carry gun and I love it. Recoil is sharp but controllable. Its not a gun I would shoot a lot due to recoil but it is not what I would consider punishing either. As a ccw it is the perfect size for the power you get. Buck shot December 25, 2007, 12:25 PM I really like the one I bought last week! I showed it to my brother-in-law yesterday and he could not believe how thin it is. He said he was going to look for one after Christmas. Some guys say it's not much thinner but to me they are still admitting "thinner". That helps with comfort and hiding. I admit there is more recoil felt and my 16 yr old daughter don't like to shoot it but it's not bad to me. Remember that it's a 9mm that does not weight a lb.
