I did a forum search and could find no threads about this particular revolver.

Taurus Model 66 .357 Magnum
Blue, 7 rounds, 4" barrel, 38oz

Does anyone have any experience with the T M66, good or bad? If so please let me know. I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and grab one of these.

Also, is this gun similar in frame size to the S&W K or L frames?

I have this exact revolver and it is crap! :uhoh:

I had problems with the rounds not plunging from the cylinder, and I had problems with metal "spitting" back at me. I sent the POS back to Taurus and they said they fixed it. Well, the plunging problem is fixed, but not the "spitting" problem. The local gun guys said that the barrel is out of alignment.

I will never buy another Taurus.

I have one, exact same model pictured actually.

Mine has been fantastic, it's eaten lots and lots of various brands of .357 Mags and .38s. Never a bobble out of mine. Pretty accurate, I put it right up there with my S&Ws honestly.

I believe it's a straight copy of the S&W of the same model number.
I have an old model (six shot) in SS. I've put a good number of rounds through it (in the thousands) and it's been very good, very comfortable, very accurate. The ejector would loosen up after a lot of shooting but a drop of Gun Tite solved that.
I've had good and bad luck with Taurus. Honestly, I'd save a little more and buy a Ruger.

Had one. A 6 shot, late 1980s vintage --> older than the one you're asking about. I believe there are internal differences beyond the different cylinder size.

"OK" except for a tendency towards the end to eat firing pin springs. There was no comparison in quality or shootability, with the genuine S&W Model 19 that I acquired, so the Taurus ended up being trade fodder.

had 2 of them...newer 7 shot models...bought within 3 months of one another from different shops; both developed ignition problems when firing double action after @ 750-1000 rounds each; bypassed customer service & traded them for a used Ruger GP100; the shop owner said he didn't need to resell them immediately and had the time to send them in...and wait...and wait...and wait; I needed a revolver for a backup weapon during hunting season and had only 5 weeks to play with

I shot a friend's 66, similar to the one pictured but with a 6" barrel.

Fired all sorts of rounds throught it with no problems, accuracy was good to.
Fireing .38s out of it was like shooting a .22.

Right now mine is a paper weight. After the holidays are over I'm going to get it worked on. Out of the box is was a P.O.S.!
