Just though I'd let people know.. Gander Mountain in Kingston, NY is giving a "The Basics of Reloading" class in the store on Thursday Jan. 4th. from 7-9 p.m. Its a free class, you just have to sign up for a seat at the customer service desk.

I'll be attending. If anyone else from THR will be there, let me know so we'll recognize each other :)

I'm just giving this one a bump since it happens in less than two hours, but I called and they said seats were open. Oh, BTW, I don't know why I said thursday in the original post.. that was just a little mistake. The date was correct though. Its Friday, Jan. 4th 7-9pm (less than two hours from now)

Hi Don, and everybody else. Well, I'd say the seminar was worth going to , especially seeing as it was free. I've personally spent a lot of money in that store.. so it's nice to get something back.. hehe.

As it turned out, the thing was actually presented by the somewhat famous hunting writer Dave Henderson. http://hendersonoutdoors.com/
The "basics of reloading" was indeed very basic, but that was ok with me. There's plenty of information around, even right here on THR for just starting out reloading, but it was nice to see some of the equipment in operation that I've personally only really seen in still photos before. It makes the prospect of starting out a bit less daunting for me. One thing that struck me as nice about the thing, was that I never felt as though it was in any way a 'commercial' for buying at Gander. In fact he encouraged the use of some alternative equipment to the brands that Gander sells.

Also, regardless of the reloading information, it was good just talking with Dave. He was very nice, extremely knowledgeable and happy to hang out afterwards and discuss all sorts of things both related to reloading and not. Actually only 5 people attended, so that made it very easy to have plenty of 1 on 1 time. He even gave us all his personal contact info, and said we should feel free to call him up and ask questions any time. So going was quite worth it, even just to make that connection.

Oh yeah .. he also handed out $10 in "Gander bucks" to us all , so not only was it free but it was like getting payed to be there !

All in all a well spent couple hours. I definitely learned some things :)
