How many of you have "custom" worked on guns?

Just wondering how many have sent out a gun to be customized in some way, finish, sights, trigger, etc.

I don't own a gun that hasn't been customized in one way or another, to one degree or another. If it's a top quality pistol, I assume the moment I buy it I'll probably invest at least its purchase price in custom work and parts, including sights, stocks, springs, et cetera.

The only shooting guns I haven't customized are a P7M8, P210, and CZ75 Champion. I said shooters. The safe queens are bone stock.

My Colt 1991a1 was very well customized. i'd still have it today if a buddy hadn't offered me enough $$ to make to worth my while :D

I'm waiting on my second custom gun. Both 1911s, both fairly extensively done up... and both worked stock. But I'm a picky bastard, and only really accurate guns interest me. :D

Sent a Rem 700 VSSF out to be accurized: cryo-ed, bolt trued, trigger work, recrowned, etc. Had the trigger lightened and the action honed on a S&W 4013, and called the gunsmith just today to schedule to have the action honed on a 3913. But these are all more operational "enhancements" than "custom" work, IMHO.

Just about every gun I own has been personalized in some way.

Personalized, yes. "Custom", not at the moment. :o

Right now? Two.
A S&W Model 65 3" that has been refinished, and fitted with an orange sight insert.
A Springfield Stainless Loaded that has been ramped & throated, matte bead-blasted, fitted with a detachable magazine well and a match bushing, and recontoured front strap and dust shield.

i doubt i have a wheelgun that hasn't had it's trigger/action tuned (yes i consider them different).
pistols seem to fall into a different class. although i've had work done on my colts, sigs, glocks and beretta, i never found a need for anything, yet, on my hk p7 or walther p99

Once had a Sprinfield Armory 1911 45 ACP converted into a Clark Custom Combat back in late 80's. The pistol was amazingly accurate after the work had been performed. Clark also performed complete trigger work on my Ruger MKII and drilled and tapped for a Ruger scope base.

I think Ive owned more custom guns than non custom guns. But it helps if you jump in and do alot yourself. Im a backyard smith that wont ruin or play with stuff I dont think I can do.........so far so good.
Shoot well.

Are there any other kind?
I'm trying to remember if the factory-stock handguns approach the number of customs in my safes. ;)

My Vertec is the only one I own that's been modified in any way. Mostly with drop in stuff I've installed.

It all depends on how you define custom!!
My "custom" G26 has Trijicon night sights, minus trigger, and an Agrip installed. That's "custom" to me!! :D

I own two ... and a half.
I have a 70 Series Colt Combat Commander that has about $700 into it. I have a S&W Model 19 snubnose that has about $450 into it. I have a Mossberg 590A1 that I stuck some stair tread tape on the fore end and pistol grip areas.
I also have a bone stock S&W 642 and a S&W 686 that has had the mainspring replaced by a W.C. Wolff unit.

Some by a proper smith, some by myself.
Decent sights on autopistols, action jobs and barrel bobs on revolvers.
I'm in the process of having a 1911 Colt turned into a "hardball" gun. But it will function properly with full charge ammo, so I'm not sure if that's a game gun or a working gun. We'll see.
Not much fits me off the rack.

WhoKnowsWho;
The poll does not allow multiple votes, so I didn't. I work on my own, have had outside custom work done, and have bone-stockers that I don't anticipate doing anything to. And we do want an accurate poll, no?

Refinished my Bulgarian Makarov myself so that I could carry without hassling about sweat and rust and things as much as with the stock blued finish. I can't afford hard chrome, or else I would have had someone do that for me. I used Aluma-Hyde II. Does that count?

I've done my share of sear stoning and throat polishing. Also half-mooned the trigger guard and ground off the hammer spur on my S&W M-60 Chief's Special, and cut down the hammer spur on my NAA Mini-Revolver. Plus I made a set of custom deer antler grips for the Mini-Revolver.

Did my own pin gun, a series 80 Mark IV. Shoots as good as my Kimber Ultra CDP. It's the only other gun I have that shoots as good.

I customize my own. Why pay some one to do something I can do myself?

I built my 'beater' 1911 from a stripped frame, a Sarco parts kit and a lot of replacement parts from Brownells to fix the Sarco crap. Thats the most custom gun I have (which wont be much of a beater once I get around to Gunkoting it, right now the frame is cold blued and looks like a piece of dog doo-doo).

Only two of mine (handguns) have been customized: One is a total custom (if that counts) and the other only has minor changes to the trigger, safety, springs, etc. I only do minor work - I know my limitations!
