Phosphate Finishes and Surface Prep

I have phosphated guns in the past with pretty minimal surface prep - quick bead blast, masking, and then on to the finishing.

Now I have never polished a handgun to a mirror finish and then dipped it in the phosphate solution. I was wondering if any of you had done so, and if so, what was the outcome? What kind of texture did you get? Durability wise did you see it come off/wear off any easier than say a "rougher" surface prep such as bead blasting?

Thanks and Regards,
Martin

Yes, and the phosphate doesn’t adhere very well. A scrub brush will quickly take most of it off and leave a dull-gray but polished surface underneath.
