I just ordered a new 3" - 20" IC barrel with iron sights for my 870. It's got the VR 28" on it now. With the addition of this barrel I can shoot slugs for deer, use buckshot for HD, and use the 28 incher for shooting clays out back. Just thought I'd tell someone about it. Maybe I'll post pics when I get it swapped over. I'd like to get a Hogue stock set for it later on.
:)

I have that same barrel on my 870. Works good. The sights are a little big for anything past 75 yards.

I'm looking forward to recieving it, 75 yards is about it for me anyways, at least with open sights.

In my experience a 20" with IC choke patterns 9 pellet 00 buck better than a cylinder bore does. They also shoot slugs pretty good too.
Do you mind telling what the barrel cost?

The barrel is on sale at midwayusa.com for $129.99 thru Dec 31st.

Glad to hear it is a good shooter!

I got the same deal in October. I tried some 00 Remington express buckshot and it didn't pattern very well. It was ok at about 8 paces but it was like 8" of spread if not more.

Did you use the 9 pellet, was there one flyer or just a loose pattern altogether?
