Anyone ever seen one of these. it is a bolt action, tube fed .22. no serial number, just says sure shot repeater on it. Thanks.

SURE SHOT .22 RIFLES were made by COOEY in Canada for EATON'S a dept store in Canada similar to and a competitor of SEARS CANADA. The Cooey company was bought by WINCHESTER and operated as WINCHESTER - COOEY CANADA for about 10 to 15 years, they closed, I believe because of labour problems and changing import laws. Some parts are available from NUMRICH GUN PARTS under WINCHESTER PARTS. Still popular in Canada because so many of them were sold over an approximately 50 to70 years of production.

mossberg: Sorry but I gave you some mixed up information. A person should check before using their memory. Anyway SURE SHOT RIFLES were made for SEARS CANADA OR SIMPSONS SEARS, RANGER and EATONIA were made for EATONS. Your model being a bolt action repeater is probably a MODEL 60. The COOEY SEMIAUTO.22 MODEL 64B was bought from Winchester -Cooey, by Mossberg and was called the Lakefield 64 , then by Savage as their present 64 series rifles.

There is a book available that gives the history and models . It is called " COOEY FIREARMS MADE IN CANADA 1919-1979 " by JOHN BELTON it sells for about $15 on one of the Amazon or similar book sites.

They also made shotguns under the Cooey name, I have a single shot and still have the Canuk paper hull shells it came with.

.22 and Shotguns weren't required to have serial numbers before the 60's, most did because the manufacturer found it easier to track them during assembly.

I've seen Revelation (Western Auto) clones of the Mossberg .22 rifles without serial numbers.

Mine is a 12 gauge break open M84, looks like a copy of a Winchester 37 its my favorite shotgun I've had it for 40 years now (My first shotgun) and its still fun to shoot.
