Hi there everyone need advice on a home defense shotgun, the 2 I have been looking at are the Mossberg 930 SPX, and the Benelli M4. Anyone have any other recommendations?

My 930SPX has been extremely reliable, It has fired every type of shell I have put into it, even some very low recoil target loads...
Plus for difference in the price of the M4, you could buy a WHOLE LOT OF AMMO!! and get lots of practice....

I too cast my vote for the Mossberg 930 SPX. Like Smitty, my Mossberg will swallow anything it eats. From a HD standpoint, having something go "boom" every time you pull the trigger, and not having to worry about "short shucking" in a high stress situation (go ahead you pumpmasters, flame me), makes more sense to me IMHO. Besides, it's a blast to shoot!!!!!!!

hello SATX,
i like the 870 HD. came with everything i wanted in an HD shotgun right out of the box. a very close second to me is the mossberg 500 persuader. no heat guard, just bone stock.
both of these SG's are very common and parts/accessories are easy to find. they have both been 100% reliable for me as well.
between the 2 you mentioned, i like the mossberg for the same reason SMITTY said.
