Stupid question, but a friend of mine who should know better had this problem: did you clean the gun before you shot it? New guns often come caked in grease which can cause all sorts of problems until you clean it out. Oil on the feed ramp, in the chamber or in the barrel are generally bad things unless the gun is being put in storage.
