I have a TC G2 rifle and love it, but I can't legally convert it to a handgun, so I want to buy a Thompson Encore and need caliber help. I want the following barrels or similar calibers;

22lr
17HMR
.223 or .204
.270?

I want to cover cans, targets, varmints and deer/hogs. I think I can do it with the above barrels. Any other suggestions?

Also, I'm looking for short barreled ballistics tables for the above calibers. I can find them for the rimfires. What would be ideal barrel length for the centerfire calibers above?

For everything T/C take a look here. http://specialtypistols.infopop.cc/eve
Nice lineup, but I'd probably go with a 7-08 in place of the 270 in a shorter tube. Shorter cases just seem to be more efficent in the pistol barrels. And you'll be wanting a big thumper for tough varmits. May I suggest a 416 rem?

Check out JD Jone's calibers, search SSK industries. I have fired the .411 JDJ and it'll do about anything you want for deer, hogs and bigger.

All in all, I'd say you have a good lineup in mind. I had the 14 inch .44 barrel and the 10 inch .357 for mine and the 10 was a lot handier to tote hunting. There are quite a few decent calibers out there so I doubt you'll want to stop with what you have listed.

The .30 Herrett was a kick to shoot also as was the .357 maximum. At one time I considered reboring the .44 to .444 marlin but decided the recoil was more punishment than I was into.

Good luck
